Traffic chaos in Louth - again!

Louth is clogged up again this morning with several incidents bringing the town, and roads in and out of it, to a virtual standstill.

Breaking news - the A153 to Horncastle in completely closed just past the junction with the A16.
Most significant are the huge delays on Horncastle Road. An accident this morning has led to the road between the A16 bypass and the Raithby turning to be closed in both directions. The traffic is now backing up all the way down Horncastle Road to the traffic lights on Upgate, where traffic is queueing for the lights in all directions. If possible, avoid this part of town and if you need to get out to Horncastle, I advise you go out on the Lincoln Road and skip across country to join the A153 further down, past the accident scene.
As more details come in, I'll keep you all updated.
Also worth mentioning is a short delay on Eastgate due to an incident at Moby Dick's on the corner with Northgate. I don't know what's happened but an ambulance and fire car have pulled up and traffic is having a bit of trouble squeezing past the scene, leading to standing traffic running all the way up to the Market Place.

Comments
That'll explain the huge lorries trundling down South Street for ages this morning. The traffic has trouble at the best of times here but it was bumper to bumper for a while here.

ReportJust heard the A153 between Louth and Horncastle might now be open, but that it's going to be very slow going for a while until all the backed-up traffic clears.
